The recent "Education in Motion" conference took place on October 25, 2024, at the Faculty of Education, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. One strand of the conference was devoted to the researchers and onsite and online presentations of their academic work focusing on literacies, critical thinking, and bilingual teaching strategies.
The second strand brought together educators from bilingual schools with the aim to make bridges between the outcomes from CLILNetLe COST action and bilingual teaching practices in Slovakia.This international roundtable was organized by the Department of English Language at the Faculty of Education, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. The event opened with a welcome address by Julia Hüttner, a founder of CLILNetLe, and Yasemin Bayyurt, the leader of the working group 5 in the Action. It was followed by a series of presentations covering diverse topics. Key sessions included Elena Kovacikova's talk on the CLILNetLe project, Silvia Rieder-Marschallinger's insights into cognitive discourse functions, and a joint presentation by Roberto Arias-Hermoso and Dorothea Bagalova on the practical applications of these functions in science education. Further, Barbara Kordíková and Jaroslava Štefková led an interactive segment featuring sample activities for science instruction using CLIL methodologies. This engaging day concluded with a reflection and summary session, offering attendees a chance to share insights. The event was funded by project from the Slovak Ministry of Education and Research Development VEGA 1/0218/24.
